Who Owns the Passion?
09 March 2004Another smart review of The Passion can be found in The Nation, wherein Stuart Klawans weighs Gibson's marketing and moviemaking skills: "Beyond my parochial squeamishness over this movie, I'm concerned at how Gibson forecloses any interpretation. 'It is as it was.' Disagree with the film in any way--even to point out how the Gospels are at variance with history--and you disagree with revealed truth." Klawans will continue this discussion Friday at a conference hosted by New York University's Center for Religion and Media, "Who Owns the Passion?", in which The Revealer will be participating.
