Things to Debate in Denver When You're Almost Dead
02 February 2005
The Colorado Supreme Court is hearing arguments about whether or not to reinstate the death sentence of a convicted murderer and rapist who in 1995 was given the death penalty by jury members who consulted the Bible to see what God has to say about capital punishment. Searching out relevant verses, like "eye for eye, tooth for tooth," five jurors then copied them and discussed them with the other jurors. When the court asked whether the Bible verses used were a part of Colorado law, the prosecutor argued that while religious passions and prejudices aren't legal, biblical morality is. So an eye for an eye is Colorado law...Keep it in mind for all your vengeance needs.
