GetReligion has a two-part discussion of "The Dawn Eden Affair" as elaborated in an op-ed/profile by The New York Observer's George Gurley. Eden, a pro-life absolutist, self-described "Jew who’s accepted Jesus as the Messiah" and author of the blog Dawn Patrol, was a copy editor and headline writer at The New York Post until last month, when she was fired (technically for blogging on company time) after altering another reporter's article on in-vitro fertilization for women with cancer to include pro-life language focusing on the routine "destruction" or death of embryos that don't result in pregnancies. The reporter called the alterations "sabotage," Eden called them balancing. Eden's since decided that she should have checked for permission first, but her supporters have already declared her a "white martyr"...
