Special Relationship
28 February 2005
Christian Voice -- the British evangelical group which protested the broadcast of Jerry Spinger: The Opera by releasing the home addresses and phone numbers of BBC executives on the internet, and which later intimidated a small cancer charity into refusing a donation from the Springer show by threatening to picket its clinics -- now aims to introduce American-style anti-abortion tactics to its campaign, with plans to target pregnant women and medical staff at abortion clinics. What "US-Style" means in practice is unclear, but The Times speculates on a link between Christian Voice and Neal Horsley, the American anti-abortionist who posted photographs of murdered abortion doctors online, and groups that posted pictures of women visiting clinics. An MP is expected to ask the House of Commons to investigate the activities of Christian Voice later this week.
