Loot This
04 September 2005
Billy Sothern: "I hope that in the event that my house is still standing and above water, someone has the good sense to loot it; there are 20 gallons of bottled water in the kitchen, some food in the cupboard and a bunch of old Atlantic Records LPs and CDs with the great rhythm and blues of New Orleans." More in Salon. Billy's a New Orleans death row lawyer whose house, it turns out since he wrote that, is only partially standing. But Billy's raising funds for people far worse off than he is. You can help through Billy's organization Reprieve, which is collecting donations to help locate and re-locate impoverished families of "those incarcerated or recently exonerated as a result of capital charges."
