Wrath, Etc.
26 October 2005
Generally speaking, U.S. politicians' and religio-rock stars' explanations for God's periodic, environmental fits of wrath are predictable: gay sex, casual sex, unwed sex, unusual sex, and oh, occasionally a political misstep. Turns out such divining is just as tedious in the Muslim world, with Pakistani National Assemblyman Riaz Hussain Prizasa, announcing to the rest of the government, that the earthquake which devastated a huge number of civilians was, you guessed it, God's wrath, for Pakistan's support of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan as well as for local election irregularities just before Ramadan.
