Rice Hosts Assorted Epithets
27 October 2005
A somewhat baffling news story, about Condeleeza Rice's recent hosting of Muslim community leaders for a fast-breaking Iftaar dinner at the State Department building, appears on the website of the Kuwait News Agency -- an entity which might be expected to subscribe wholesale to Washington rhetoric, in describing Rice's P.R.-Gala as "part of Washington's efforts to win the heart and minds of many Moslems around the world and in a renewal of its determination to extend its all-out support to freedom of choice and expression," and even to repeat her platitudes about Islam without comment, but not to refer to the dinner participants as "Moslems."
