Bible Time
02 April 2007
David Van Biema's latest Time cover story, "The Case for Teaching the Bible," isn't so much a report as qualified advocacy. That makes it a better piece of work than an ostensibly neutral article. Van Biema takes the best efforts of conservative Christians to produce constitutional curricula seriously, but finds them wanting; considers the real arguments of strict separationists, and finds them answerable; and, most importantly, reveals his personal faith -- in "patriotic" pluralism." It's good stuff, wherever you stand -- it's not a declaration from Big Media, it's an argument -- so read and argue.
